Content Standards
Educational content standards describe what students should know and be able to do in each subject at each grade. Content standards were designed to encourage the highest achievement of every student, by defining the knowledge, concepts, and skills that students should acquire at each grade level. The California State Board of Education decides upon and adopts the standards for all students, from kindergarten through high school, The standards for each subject are available on the CDE Content Standards Web page.
Curriculum Frameworks
Curriculum frameworks offer guidance for implementing content standards. Frameworks describe the curriculum and instruction necessary to help students achieve proficiency, and they specify the design of instructional materials and professional development. They also provide guidelines and selected research-based approaches for implementing instruction to ensure optimal benefits for all students. Instructional Materials
Instructional materials’ are all materials designed for use by pupils and teachers for learning and help pupils acquire facts, skills, or opinions or develop cognitive processes. Instructional materials include textbooks, technology-based materials, other educational materials, and tests. Technology-based materials include instructional materials designed for use by pupils and teachers as learning resources & require the availability of electronic equipment.
